Spinning CD animation from your cover art
A spinning CD animation is the Y2K cousin of the rotating record: your artwork printed edge to edge across the disc, a hub hole in the middle, and an iridescent rainbow band sweeping the surface as it turns. Upload one square image and it is generated here — no 3D software, no CapCut tutorial, no template to relink.
The result exports as an MP4 for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, or as a looping spinning CD GIF for Discord, Slack and forums. Everything renders in your browser, so unreleased album art never leaves your device.
How to make a spinning CD animation
- Upload the cover art. A square JPG or PNG; 1200×1200 px is enough for HD, 2400×2400 px for 4K. The image is printed across the whole disc face.
- Pick the layout. Case + disc keeps the square cover with the CD sliding out beside it — the jewel-case look. Full-face disc fills the frame with the disc alone.
- Tune the shine and motion. Speed in rpm, duration, and format. The rainbow reflection rotates slightly slower than the disc, the way light behaves on real polycarbonate.
- Add your track. Optional MP3 with a trim slider — the clip is muxed straight into the MP4.
- Render. HD or 4K with a live progress bar; the file lands in your Downloads automatically.
Spinning CD effect without CapCut or 3D software
The usual routes to a spinning CD effect are a CapCut tutorial you redo by hand for every release, a 3D scene nobody wants to build for one post, or a stock animation that is not your artwork. This does the whole thing from a single upload: real disc geometry, hub hole, rainbow diffraction and a seamless loop.
CapCut rotation tricks
No manual keyframes per release. Change the cover, re-export in seconds, and the loop is mathematically seamless rather than close enough.
3D spinning CD scenes
Nothing to model or light. The disc, its shine and the case are generated from your image and rendered at up to 4K.
Stock CD animations
It is your album art on the disc, not a generic placeholder — with your own label image, background and logo if you want them.
CD or vinyl — which should you post?
Vinyl reads warm, classic and collector-oriented. A CD reads late-90s and 2000s digital nostalgia — which is exactly right for hyperpop, eurodance, R&B throwbacks and anything Y2K. Plenty of artists render both from the same artwork and A/B test them; switching takes one click above.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a spinning CD animation?
Upload your cover art, choose Case + disc or Full-face disc, set the speed, duration and format, then press Render. The animation is generated frame by frame in your browser and exported as an MP4.
Can I make a spinning CD GIF instead of a video?
Yes — the GIF maker exports a looping spinning disc GIF up to 10 seconds, free with an account. GIFs are silent and ideal for Discord, Slack, forums and email signatures.
Do I need CapCut, After Effects or 3D software?
No. The disc, hub hole, rainbow shine and jewel case are generated from your uploaded image — there is no template to download, no plugin and no scene to build.
What is the difference between the CD and vinyl makers?
The CD prints your artwork across the entire disc face and adds a rotating rainbow reflection plus a hub hole. The vinyl maker shows grooves, a smaller label area, sleeves and matte or colored-wax pressings.
Can I use a different image on the disc than on the cover?
Yes — the optional Disc image upload puts separate art on the CD face while the cover keeps yours. Leave it empty and the cover is reused on the disc.
Which formats and resolutions can I export?
MP4 in 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9 and 4:3, at Full HD (1920 px long edge) or 4K (3840 px). Vertical formats place the disc top, center or bottom; wide ones left, center or right.
Does the disc loop seamlessly?
Yes. With Perfect loop on, the speed snaps to a whole number of rotations across your duration, so the final frame lands exactly on the first — no visible jump when it repeats.
Can I add music to the spinning CD video?
Yes — upload an MP3 (up to 5 minutes / 12 MB) and pick the segment with the trim slider. The clip length always matches your video duration and is encoded to AAC inside the MP4.
Can I tone down the rainbow reflection?
It is tuned to stay subtle so the artwork stays readable, and it rotates a little slower than the disc for realism. Darker backgrounds make it pop; lighter ones mute it.
What resolution should the cover art be?
At least 1200×1200 px for HD and 2400×2400 px for 4K, saved as a high-quality sRGB JPG or PNG. Smaller images render but look soft once stretched across the disc.
Is it free?
Designing and previewing are free and unlimited, with no account. Rendering MP4 requires a plan (Artist from €4.99/mo for HD; Studio from €10.99/mo adds 4K, logo, gradients and all finishes). GIFs are free with an account.
What are the background textures?
Studio overlays laid transparently over any background — film grain, speckles or dust — found in the Look section. Pick one of the numbered tiles (hover to preview) or the ✕ tile for none. They render into the video exactly as previewed.
Do I get MP4 in Firefox or Safari?
Yes. Browsers without a native H.264 encoder use the built-in FFmpeg converter: your video records first, then converts to MP4 right in the browser. The first export downloads the converter once (~31 MB); after that it is cached and exports start instantly. Chrome and Edge encode MP4 natively with no download at all.
Can I use the videos commercially?
Yes — releases, ads, client work and merch. You must own or have licensed the artwork you upload.
